Clinical practice

As occupational therapists our focus is on enabling you to engage fully in meaningful activities. We will work with you to identify your priorities, the barriers preventing you from achieving them, and the strengths we can nurture to help you achieve your goals.

This may involve completing specialised assessments to gain a holistic understanding of the challenges you are experiencing or use of a specific therapeutic approach to support you to re-engage with the areas that matter most to you.

Sensory processing assessments

Sensory processing assessments

Sensory processing relates to the processing of sensory input from our bodies and our environments. We all have natural differences in how we respond to sensory inputs, but this becomes problematic when it prevents us from engaging in the activities that are important to us. We provide two options of sensory assessments to help you better understand your sensory responses and how these may be impacting you day to day.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)

About cognitive behavioural therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps you recognize and change the thoughts, beliefs, and behaviours that contribute to your mental health. Together, we’ll explore how these patterns impact your emotions and daily functioning and develop practical strategies to manage symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression, and other challenges. By incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), we can also emphasise self-compassion and help you align your actions with your core values.

Therapy is primarily delivered online, but in-person sessions, including “walk-and-talk” therapy outdoors, are available within 15 miles of CW8.
